#HAPPYBIRTHDAY-MFTWSC182

MFTWSC182 close-up
My husband and I have a good friend…he’s a single dad, and just all-around nice guy.  He recently commented on one of the cards I posted on Facebook and said “When am I ever going to get one of these fabulous cards?” and mentioned that his birthday was coming up.  What could I do?  I had to make him a card!  Since I have yet to use my LLD Smart Phone Die-Namics and matching LLD Friend Request stamp set from My Favorite Things, I thought now would be a good time to put it all to use.  And the sketch #182 was the perfect layout, too!

I turned the sketch on it’s side to accommodate the longer phone die-cut…
MFTWSC182
I gave stamps, inks and dies a work-out on this card!  Starting with the Berrylicious card stock base, I stamped the BG Grid background with Grout Gray hybrid ink.  On the Tangy Orange card stock strip I stamped some dots from the DC Large Scale backgrounds using Orange Fizz hybrid ink.  On the Jellybean Green card stock panel I stamped BG On the Diagonal background with Sour Apple premium dye ink.
Above and below the green card stock panel I added two Pierced Fishtail Flags STAX Die-Namics cut from Electric Red card stock.  I cut the phone base from Grout Gray card stock, and the phone front from Black Licorice card stock, laying a piece of Berrylicious card stock on the “screen” stamped with the BG Typewriter Text background.  Then I cut some word bubbles and other accessories from the LLD Smart Phone Die-Namics, and stamped them with different phrases from the LLD Friend Request stamp set.  On the lower right I added a little Electric Red card stock “flag” cut from the Blueprints 15 Die-namics, and embellished it with a Berrylicious button tied with hemp cord.

All supplies from My Favorite Things unless otherwise noted…

Waving Hello-Deconstructed Sketch #157

DS157-close up

Oooh, I just love days like today… days when I get to share awesome news with my readers!  Today marks my first day as a new member of the Deconstructed Sketch team!  I’ve always wanted to be on a sketch challenge team, so awhile back I decided to email Jen Shults and asked her to keep me in mind if she ever needed a new team member, and lo and behold here I am!  I’m very happy with this new assignment, and know that you’re going to love the sketches (if you don’t already!) and the awesome team members that’ll have plenty of inspiration for you!

Are you ready for this weeks sketch?  Here ya’ go!

LOVE it!  Now, I have plenty of fabulous flower dies I could have used for this sketch, but I decided to go a different route…

DS157

I took a nautical route!  My card was made using the Sailboat Die-Namics and Go Overboard stamp set from My Favorite Things.  I started my card by using the Waves Stencil with some clear embossing paste on Blu Raspberry card stock.  While that dried, I cut out my sailboat using Sweet Tooth card stock, Sour Apple card stock and Berrylicious card stock.  I stamped the BG Grid background on the sails using Sour Apple premium dye ink, and stamped the sentiment on the Berrylicious card stock using Nightshift Blue premium dye ink.  The center panel was cut using the Horizontal Strips Die-Namics, and layered on a Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-Namics.  Near the bottom of the navy blue panel I added some waves cut with a now-retired Die-Namics die from Sweet Tooth card stock, then sponged the edges with some Berrylicious hybrid ink.  Over on the top left corner I added a Sour Apple card stock flag cut from the Blueprints 13 Die-Namics.  I finished it up by adding some enamel dots.

Here’s what I added to the inside…

Color Throwdown #298

CTD298-closeup
Hello friends, it’s time for another Color Throwdown challenge and this week Monika is our hostess with a sweet pastel color combo for you to try!
swatch 298
I hope you’ll hop over to the CTD blog and join us this week!  We would love to see what you create!
For my card, I pulled out my LJD Sweet Roses stamp set and the LJD Roses and Leaves Die-namics, along with the Pierced Traditional Tag STAX Die-Namics…
CTD298
Across the bottom of the Kraft card stock tag, I stamped dots from the DC Large Scale Backgrounds stamp set in Natural hybrid ink.  I also spritzed the tag with some MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist for a little sparkle.  Then I stamped the flowers from the in Pink Lemonade, Cotton Candy, Grapesicle and Grape Jelly hybrid inks, and the leaves in Spearmint hybrid ink.  On the card base I stamped the BG Linen background in Insulation Pink premium dye ink.  To finish the tag, I stamped the “friend” sentiment from the LLD Friend Request stamp set on a tag from the Blueprints 14.  I attached the tag with two staples from my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, and added a hemp cord double bow at the top of the tag.
Be sure to stop over at the CTD blog for all the challenge details, and play along!  And be sure to see my Throwdown sisters for more inspiration…
